Halloween Reading: Nightshade by Andrea Cremer

Halloween HeaderNow a young adult option for Halloween, Nightshade by Andrea Cremer. Pictured here is the original cover art, because I absolutely love it. The paperback looks quite different.

NightshadeThis is the first book in the Nightshade Series*. Now, this book itself isn’t too spooky, but the series overall has shifters, magical relics, forces of evil, and some horrifying moments connecting these elements. These books take a different approach to shifters with the Guardians; they’re kind of werewolves, but not… there is just something a little different, a suspicion that comes clear much later. About halfway through book two, events take a dark turn and this direction makes the series a must read for Halloween.

Happy Halloween reading!

*This is the first book released. The author has since released a two-novel prequel, Rift and Rise, so it’s no longer the first book chronologically. Rift and Rise are quite dark, perfect reading material for Halloween, but I’m not sure what it would be like to read them without already knowing the original three books. If you try, please let me know!
